Additional information

Regarding my post about the CBC article on two Palestinians being shot by Israeli soldiers at the Gaza border fence, I just saw an article by Israeli journalist, Gideon Levy, who writes for the Israeli newspaper, Ha'aretz that said one of the so-called "rioters" who was shot in the head was in a wheelchair.

He had had his two legs destroyed by Israeli bombing of Gaza several years ago and was a double amputee. He was exactly ZERO threat to the Israeli soldiers. He was crippled. He was behind a fence. He had no weapons. The act of killing him was cold-blooded murder.

This is a human interest story. CBC must know of it from the wire services. If an Israeli double amputee had been butchered like this, we can be sure that CBC would make a big deal of it.

Why did CBC not publish this story? Did they think Canadians would find no merit in it, or the opposite, did they fear this story would have a big impact in convincing Canadians that the Israelis are brutal occupiers and murderers. I think the latter.

Who does CBC work for? Apparently it is not for us.

CBC echoes Israeli Government

Who does CBC work for? Why do they repeat nonsense coming out of the Israeli Government as if it had validity. In today's article online about the killing of two young Palestinian demonstrators CBC had this to say:

The Israeli military said thousands of Palestinians participated in "violent riots" along the Gaza border and across the West Bank "hurling firebombs and rocks and rolling burning tires" at Israeli forces. It said troops responded with tear gas and deployed live fire "selectively toward main instigators."

"Selectively targeting" demonstrators, most probably none of whom were any real threat to the safety of the heavily-armed Israeli troops is immoral. It is murder. It is killing young men who are standing up for freedom from Israeli oppression. Why does Israel get to describe it so cavalierly? Why does CBC repeat this crap without comment?

Also these so-called clashes along the Gaza border - the Palestinians never came anywhere near the Israeli side of the border, and they were not "rioting" - they were demonstrating. The Israelis can call it "rioting" , but CBC should not repeat this crap.

CBC's reporting on Israel/Palestine is a disgrace.

Trump recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital

Trump's action is counterproductive and evil, but it is to be expected from such an inferior person. He is an embarrassment to America, and a blot on humanity, but I think comments like the following go too far:

Addressing a meeting of the Arab League in Cairo, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, head of the League, said Trump's decision ''condemned'' the United States and the president's administration, the Associated Press reported.

''The decision amounts to the legalization of occupation,'' said Aboul-Gheit,

What Trump has done does not "legalize" anything. It is the foolish gesture of a foolish man governing a foolish country. But he only does his foolishness on behalf of his own foolish country. The USA must be a foolish country to elect and tolerate this fool, Trump. It should have no meaning to the rest of the world.

The main implication of Trump's action should be to demonstrate the irrelevance of the USA. The USA is a pariah state, that is a danger to humanity, and the rest of the world must begin to treat it accordingly.

Stop honouring Trump's stupidity and ignorance with terms like "legalization". He must be treated for the irrelevance he is, and the irrelevance he has made America.

CBC at it again

In today's article,

Pressure grows on Palestinian officials to end payments to prisoners and families of 'martyrs'

CBC posted three huge pictures of Israeli victims of Palestinian violence. CBC humanizes Israeli victims, but virtually ignores Palestinian victims. CBC does not report that Israel kills 5 Palestinians for every Israeli killed by them. If CBC was balanced we would see huge pictures of Palestinian victims. But CBC always presents lopsided coverage, humanizing the Israeli victims, who are the oppressors, and ignoring the Palestinian victims, who are the oppressed.

Also the article focusses on a few convicted Palestinian killers, but ignores the fact that payments are also made to Palestinians killed by Israelis, often killed in peaceful, non-violent protests.

Stoffel is earning his Zionist prize for reporting - he is totally without scruples.

What message?

CBC's headline is so stupid;

U.S., South Korea, Japan boost military exercises to send message to North Korea

The only messages the three countries are sending to North Korea are: Hurry up with your nuclear program. Make it your highest priority, because we will soon try to kill you. Your only hope of saving yourself is having a nuclear deterrent.

But CBC's headline plays into the asinine US position that somehow North Korea is the threat - not the US.

Monday, September 4, 2017

Lying CBC headline

The United States is threatening North Korea with annihilation, but US media and CBC keep claiming that somehow North Korea is the threat.

North Korea is trying to demonstrate that it will not be a cakewalk for the Americans like Iraq or Libya. If the US attacks them, there will be severe consequences even though the North knows that they will lose and be destroyed.

North Korea is not the threat. The US is the threat to the whole world.

Since the end of WWII, the US military has killed about 20,000,000 people around the globe, most of whom were non-combatants, women and children. The same mass murderers and serial child killers that called the shots in Iraq, like Mattis, would love to add another million notches to their gun in North Korea, but they are scared off only by North Korea's nuclear weapons.

It is no wonder the North Koreans are testing and flaunting these weapons,. The message is clear: US Murderers -Leave Us Alone."

But does the CBC present the story like this?

Todays headline is a good example:

UN ambassadors call for tougher response on North Korea

"Ambassadors" is plural, but according to the article only the US Ambassador said this. Nikki Hayley is a right-wing extremist that should never be listened to. Her claim that North Korea is "begging for war" is absolutely ridiculous and absurd. The fact that she would say this shows she has no understanding at all, or she is a war-mongering liar.

Wines from Occupation

CBC.ca has an article today on the false labeling of wine made in the occupied territory of Palestine as "made in Israel".

West Bank wine controversy continues as Canadian challenges 'Made in Israel' label

It is a long article and leans over backward to try to be fair to Israel, and as a result is unbalanced and inaccurate.

The issue is simple. The wine is not made in Israel, so it should not be labeled as such. This contravenes Canadian law, and it does not matter what Zionists say, their love of Israel and all its crimes, should not be allowed to trump Canadian law.

The issue is that the Zionists got their way. They over-ruled Canadian law. This is scary and unacceptable.

The headline makes it sound as if one Canadian is against the system, but he is supporting the Canadian system. CBC should be backing him as a defender of Canadian democracy, rather than presenting him as an outlier with a personal campaign.

But CBC is more interested in defending Israel's interests than Canadian interests so this article is just typical CBC reporting.

North Korean Nuclear Threat?

CBC.ca had this headline today:

How should Canada deal with North Korea's nuclear threat?

What an absurd headline! It is fear-mongering and war-mongering and it is typical CBC failing in its role.

The threat of a nuclear confrontation comes almost entirely from the USA. North Korea will ONLY act in self-defence. So if there is a "threat" it is from the USA.

CBC should stop aping the corrupted US media and tell a Canadian story, not a typical US war-mongering story. Otherwise why do we need CBC?

North Korea

Although this blog is supposed to be about Palestine and Israel, I just want to mention how sickening CBC coverage is of the current North Korea coverage. It is just repeating US nonsense, and thus warmongering like the US Government. This does not serve world peace or Canadian interests.

There is no North Korean threat separate from US provocation. North Korea is like a mouse, and the US an elephant. All this media nonsense about a North Korea threat is just warmongering hype, and CBC is repeating and echoing it.

Look at this headline today:

North Korea will have Guam attack plan ready by mid-August, military statement says

'Americans should sleep well at night,' Rex Tillerson says, as Trump boasts about nuclear arsenal

The Chinese have told the US that the problem can be solved if there is a "Freeze for a Freeze". That is if the US stops its constant threats and provocations against North Korea, that North Korea will freeze its nuclear activities. But the US keeps insisting that the Norh Koreans should render themselves helpless, before the US will talk to them. This is a nonsensical negotiating position.

CBC should be highlighting the "freeze for a freeze" proposal, not just ignoring it, in favour of the nonsense coming out of the US.

This is Canada, not the USA, and we need to reduce the level of warmongering, not echo it.

CBC - Israeli Government Echo

Look at this paragraph in today's CBC article:

"Israel's Foreign Ministry said on Monday that a security guard at the country's embassy in Jordan opened fire, killing two Jordanians, after being attacked by one of them with a screwdriver."

Absolutely unbelievable. One screwdriver. Two people killed.

But for CBC - if the Israeli Government says it, it must be true.

Why "Israeli Government SAID"? Why not 'ALLEGED", or "CLAIMED". Especially when what was "said" is so preposterous, it should be qualified. If it were any other government, including Canada's, saying anything so questionable, CBC would use "alleged", but not with the Israeli Government.

CBC's mis-use of language

All Israel news all the time. There are almost 200 countries in the world, but CBC covers Israel as if it were a Canadian province - although it usually ignores Israel's daily crimes against Palestinians and highlights Israel's victimhood.

In an article today there is this sentence:

"Many of Jordan's seven million citizens are of Palestinian origin. They or their parents or grandparents were expelled or fled to Jordan in the fighting that accompanied the creation of Israel in 1948."

The reason that there are so many Palestinian refugees in Jordan is because of ETHNIC CLEANSING carried out by Israel. You "EXPEL" a naughty child from a school. The Palestinians were not "expelled" - they were driven out of their homes, having committed no crime warranting this foul treatment.

And the reference to "the fighting that accompanied the creation of Israel" - that was pretty one-sided fighting, and it was all really a cover to allow the ethnic cleansing to happen.

And perhaps it might be worthwhile to note in this context that Israel refuses to allow these people to return to their former homes. After all what is the point of an ethnic cleansing if you let people return?

Killing Palestinians is not news for CBC

Further to my post on the disgustingly biassed article about the two killed Israeli policemen, I should add the fact that just one day before this incident, two Palestinian teenagers were killed by Israeli troops. This was reported by Reuters, but CBC ignored it totally.

Here is part of the Reuters report:

The Palestinian health ministry said the two Palestinians killed by the troops were aged 21 and 16, and that a third person was shot and wounded in the leg.

Camp residents made no mention of any Palestinian gunfire in their accounts of the raid in which they said rocks were thrown at the troops.

Mohammed Sadee, who lives in the camp, said he witnessed one of the Palestinians being shot.

"The military jeeps were driving in and this martyr was behind them on a motorbike. They shot him ... and he fell to the ground," he said.

CBC headlines the death of two Israeli occupiers in illegally occupied territory, but completely ignores the murder of Palestinian teenagers the day before by these same occupiers.

CBC really should be taken to court for its biassed coverage of Israel/Palestine issues. The people on staff at CBC who do this lopsided reporting have ZERO INTEGRITY as journalists. Unfortunately it is likely that many of them know exactly how dishonest they are being, but are working for a higher cause - Israeli (Jewish) nationalism.

CBC - Only Jewish Lives Matter

Here is a headline on July 14:

2 police officers killed in shooting near Jerusalem holy site

Area is known as Temple Mount to Jews and Noble Sanctuary to Muslims

You need to actually read the article before you find out that 5 people were killed not two. The other three were Palestinian resistance fighters.

But CBC thinks only the lives of Occupation police matter. The lives of those who suffer under their occupation are hardly worth considering.

This is a perfect example of CBC's grotesque, racist bias.

Money to US soldier widow?

This story is stomach churning:

'Competing Canadian values': Awarding Khadr's settlement to U.S. widow a challenge for Ont. court

Jurisdiction, public policy will be key elements for court to consider

Why is it even considered that a widow of a US soldier should be compensated for her husband's death on the other side of the world while committing mass murder and war crimes against Afghan people?

Over the last decades US soldiers have butchered millions, yes millions, of innocent people on the other side of the world, in Vietnam, in Iraq, in Afghanistan, and many other places. If one US butcher's life is worth $100 million in compensation for wrongful death, them the USA owes hundreds of trillions of dollars in compensation to all the millions they killed while committing US war crimes abroad.

This widow's case is not only ridiculous, it is insulting to all the victims of the US military, and Canada should through her case out in extreme disgust.

Why is CBC treating this as if it is reasonable and normal? It is disgusting and disgraceful and CBC should say so.

CBC's Bias

This headline on July 10th:

Majority of Canadians oppose Omar Khadr settlement, poll suggests

Most Liberals, New Democrats and 91% of Conservatives feel $10.5 million settlement was wrong

Perhaps the facts of the poll result are correct, but so much context is missing that the report becomes an exercise in propaganda.

For example, how exactly was the question framed?

How informed were the respondents to the facts of the case?

What if the question had been framed like this - Do you think the Supreme Court of Canada made an error in awarding Omar Khadr based on the fact that his rights as a child and a Canadian citizen were violated by the indifference of the Canadian Government? Or do you believe Canada should have a double standard - one standard for non-Muslims and another harsher standard for Muslims, including Muslim children?

Most respondents were ignorant of the facts of the case and unless the question had been carefully crafted to deal with that reality, the results are rather irrelevant and damaging.

This is par for the course for CBC when the issue is Islamophobic.

Weaponized words Indeed

CBC.ca had the following article today:

Chemical weapons watchdog says sarin used in April attack on Syrian town

Although it does not explicitly say so, it implies that Assad was responsible for a chemical weapons attack on his own people. There are profound reasons to doubt this was the case, a prime reason being that it would serve Assad absolutely no benefit and do him much harm. However the US wants to justify more violence in Syria and, without evidence, has pinned the blame on Assad.

Seymour Hersch, the famous investigative journalist, has published a deeply-researched article which suggests that even US officials knew that Assad did not do the crime, but this article has not been published in the US war-mongering media.

CBC also chooses to ignore this article, clearly for the same war-mongering purposes. Perhaps loyalty to Israel is also a factor.

Why does CBC ignore one very reasonable side of the story - the Hersch article - and repeat the suggestive and misleading stuff from the US? CBC has taken a very pro-war, anti-Assad position in Syria to the point of intentionally omitting important, contradictory information.

This seems to me to be a crime against the Canadian public. At a minimum, CBC should tell both sides to a complex story - not just the side that suits Israel.

Journalism award???

An article today in CBC.ca clearly demonstrates why Derek Stoffel won a journalism award from a Canadian Zionist organization and why CBC considers him suitable to report on Israel/Palestine. Basically because he has zero integrity. He must know that what he is writing is skewed and misleading, but he does it anyway.

Here are examples from this one article:

1) He writes: "Gaza residents haven't had around-the-clock electricity since 2006, before a conflict was fought between two rival Palestinian factions, Hamas and Fatah, based in the West Bank. Hamas won and has governed the Gaza Strip for the last decade. Repeated attempts at reconciliation between the two sides have failed."

Why does he not mention that there was an internationally-monitored election in 2006 which Hamas won and Fatah lost? Or is he describing the election as a "conflict"? That would be strange terminology. He writes as if it was just a street fight that put Hamas in charge in Gaza, and does not clarify that Abbas and Fatah have no legitimacy because they lost the election, but won the street fight in the West Bank.

2) He writes: "Israel agreed in early June to cut back its share of Gaza's electricity supply, at the request of Abbas, who is widely believed to have made the move to increase the pressure on his rival Hamas. That led to the reduction to just two to four hours of daily electricity."

Even though Abbas has no legitimacy, but even if he had, the time has long past when he should have faced an election. Abbas is widely-despised by Palestinians as an Israeli puppet. He does not hold an election because he will lose. Yet Stoffel claims that Israel is just responding to a request from Abbas, so they have no fault in the current situation.

3) Stoffel writes as if Gaza suffering is all caused by internal Palestinian politics. This is absurd. Palestinians have been suffering Israeli abuse for over 70 years. Stoffel should point out that Gaza is crowded and poor because almost all its residents are victims of Israeli ethnic cleansing and today an economic blockade. Many are from the beautiful city of Haifa, where 50,000 Palestinian residents were forced at gunpoint to flee for their loves by boats to Gaza.

4) Stoffel claims there were three wars between Hamas and Israel, but they were not wars. They were brutal Israeli massacres, and calling them "wars" just gets the Israelis a free pass to massacre at will.

5) Stoffel claims that Gazans are angry at Hamas, not Abbas. He claims to have interviewed a "handful" of residents. But how valid is this in light of the FACT, that he ignores, that in an election, the people of Gaza rejected Abbas and Fatah. Is Stoffel claiming his handful of interviews has more validity that the election result?

But Stoffel's greatest abuse, in which he serves his Zionist patrons, is writing a piece on Gaza suffering which virtually completes exonerates the role of Israel in this suffering.

Canadians deserve better reporting than this, We pay for CBC, not the Zionists, and CBC should work for us, not the Zionists.

Breaking News????

Today this was the headline under "breaking News" on CBC.ca:

Israeli PM calls for dismantling of UN Palestinian refugee agency

Benjamin Netanyahu says UNRWA perpetuates, rather than solves, the Palestinian refugee problem

CBC which virtually ignored the hunger strike of 40 days by the Palestinians imprisoned in Israel, and did not even bother to announce the end of the strike, considers the above "News", let alone "Breaking News"???

So unbalanced it is humorous or probably more accurately, criminal. What the little fascist, racist Netanyahu says is important enough for a headline. What he says is meaningless. It is as far from being a "breaking news" item as it is possible to imagine.

How did Canada get this kind of national broadcaster???

"Iran Threat"???

When Trump and Netanyahu talk unmitigated nonsense, it would be good if CBC could not echo the nonsense and amplify it as they do in this article:

Trump arrives in Israel to talk peace and threats posed by Iran

It is the USA and Israel which are the greatest threats to peace in the world. It is the Sunni Arab states, most particularly, Saudi Arabia, that are the major source of anti-western terrorists.

These are well-known facts, at least the second one is. CBC should at least note, in passing if necessary, that Trump has the message ass-backwards and upside-down.

But Trump's nonsense is Israel's nonsense, so CBC happily repeats it without even hinting that it is pure nonsense.

CBC - A Lot More Should Be Written

Here is the tiny piece in CBC.ca on the Nakba on May 15:

Thousands of Palestinians have marked the anniversary of their uprooting almost seven decades ago with sirens and low-key marches.

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians fled or were driven out in the Mideast war over Israel's 1948 creation. Their descendants now number several million and most still live in the region.

Sirens wailed Monday in the West Bank to mark the passing of 69 years since what Palestinians call their "nakba," or catastrophe. Cars stopped and pedestrians stood still in commemoration.

Marchers waved flags and used keys and other props to symbolize their demand to return to what is now Israel.

Israel says it will never accept a "right of return," arguing it would threaten the state by diluting its Jewish majority.

     ------------

I guess we should be grateful they said anything at all, but CBC was careful to say as little as possible.

Notice the phrasing - "Palestinians fled or were driven out in the Mideast war over Israel's 1948 creation." Nothing here about Deir Yassin - the massacre of Palestinians designed to terrify others into fleeing for their lives. Nothing here about the dozens of such atrocities that led to people fleeing. Nothing here about the fact that the emptying of villages was not really a part of a war, but was a the result of an explicit policy of ethnic cleansing. Nothing here about the fact that it is immoral to deny the "right of return", and that the UN has insisted it should be granted.

Notice the disparaging language that CBC uses, but would never use against Israelis. It calls the "keys" to homes that were stolen as "props" - as if it is some phony stage play. These are not "props" - they are real keys to real homes that were stolen and are now occupied by Israelis.

Would CBC call the keys to a Canadian house that had been stolen as "props" if they were presented as evidence in a court case?

CBC's bias is glaring and ugly, and totally un-Canadian. It is however totally Zionistic.

Non-news News

Pleased to see that CBC had an article on the Palestinian hunger strike, but, given CBC's profound bias, not surprised that it provided no context to the issue. No details on abuses of prisoners. No recognition that most of the prisoners are political prisoners who were just resisting Israeli oppression and injustices. No comment on the number of child prisoners and their abuse.

CBC calls this corrupted, incomplete news as news. Any informed reader will know better.

Also in the same day CBC reported on an Israeli air strike near Damascus. It was an illegal attack, but CBC, of course, gives Israel a free pass (remember the Holocaust!) to ignore international law with impunity. So when it reports that others have described the attack as an illegal aggression, CNC puts aggression in scare quotes implying it is ridiculous to ever describe Israel as an aggressor.

Monday, April 10, 2017

What do you expect?

CBC's Derek Stoffel won a Zionist journalism prize for his Middle East reporting, so his latest article published on CBC.ca fits his pattern;

U.S. allies in Middle East welcome Trump's missile launch

This article makes no mention of the dangers to the entire world, INCLUDING TO CANADIANS, of Trump's attack on Syria. It goes on at great length how happy the Israelis are about Trump attacking another neighbour of Israel. Does Stoffel really believe Canadians are happy to risk WWIII just to make Israelis happy?

The facts that Stoffel ignores are that Trump was breaching international law; that the US action is only likely to make things worse in Syria, and that Trump is risking a war with Russia. So what if all this makes Israel so happy! Israel also pays no attention to international law, and Israel wants to see the situation in Syria get worse, so of course Israel is happy.

But when will CBC begin to report events that threaten the lives of Canadians from a Canadian perspective, rather than a Zionist one? We can only hope that day will come.

Small Potato Gets Big Cheese Coverage

Why does CBC headline an article with a big picture of Netanyahu when it refers to the reaction of a dozen different countries, every one of them bigger and more important than Israel?

Here is the headline:

Netanyahu 'fully supports' Trump: World reaction to U.S. using cruise missiles

Britain, France and Israel express varying degrees of support; Iran and Russia opposed

I will spare you the ugly picture of Netanyahu.

CBC consistently gives Israel and Netanyahu coverage that they do not deserve. It must be a conscious attempt to legitimize and aggrandize this petty fascist and his Apartheid country. Why does CBC want to do this?

Repeating Falsehoods Good Propaganda

CBC refuses to tell the truth about how Hamas took over Gaza. Here are its words on April 7th:

"Hamas has executed 25 people sentenced under its judicial system since 2007, when it took over Gaza in bloody street battles from forces loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas."

The truth is that Hamas won the Palestinian elections but Fatah, under Abbas, tried to deny them their democratic victory. They lost the West Bank to the unelected Fatah by force, but were able to keep Gaza only by fighting for what they had already legitimately won.

There must be a reason why CBC refuses to tell the truth here.
