In 2006 Hamas won an internationally-monitored honest election to become the legitimate government of all the Palestinian territories.
Fatah which lost the election because it is widely despised and distrusted by Palestinians, because of its corruption and obsequiousness to Israel, refused to accept the election result.
There was some violence, in which Hamas retained control of Gaza, but lost the West Bank to the election losers, Fatah.
These are the facts, but this is how CBC describes this bit of history:
Hamas, which violently seized control of Gaza in 2007, rejected several cease-fire offers throughout the fighting. Its primary demand is the lifting of an Israeli-Egyptian blockade imposed after they seized power.
CBC is so far from the reality, their claims can only be described as LIES.
